CDC Data Centres welcomes the ACT Government's commitment to develop a Data Centre Framework that provides greater certainty for industry, communities and investors while supporting the continued growth of Canberra's digital economy.
As a Canberra-founded company with deep roots in the Territory, CDC supports the Government's focus on clear planning rules, responsible development, sustainability, sovereign capability and long-term economic growth.
CDC Chief Executive Officer Greg Boorer said the Framework represented an important opportunity to ensure the ACT remains a leading destination for secure digital infrastructure investment while maintaining community confidence and environmental stewardship.
"CDC welcomes the ACT Government's leadership in developing a clear framework for future data centre investment in Canberra. Providing certainty around planning, infrastructure and sustainability expectations will support responsible industry growth and attract long-term investment to the Territory," Mr Boorer said.
CDC supports the ACT Government's emphasis on water security and for the last two decades has invested in innovative closed-loop cooling technologies that minimise water use while maintaining world-class operational performance.
Established in Canberra in 2007, CDC has grown from an ACT-based business into one of Australia's leading sovereign-owned and operated data centre providers. The company's Canberra campuses support critical digital infrastructure for Australian Government agencies, national security organisations, research institutions and industry partners.
CDC’s campuses in Hume, Fyshwick and Beard supported around 650 jobs during their construction and continue to support around 230 ongoing jobs across the ACT alone. Our Canberra facilities have supported more than $315 million of value added to the ACT economy during construction and continue to support around $65 million per year of value added to the ACT economy through their operations.
