We’re excited to share CDC’s 2025 Sustainability Update, ‘Sustainability. Secured.’ This annual update is a testament to our ongoing commitment to embedding Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles into every aspect of our business, including the way we develop, operate, govern and grow.
As the pre-eminent owner, operator and developer of sovereign, large-scale data centres across Australia and New Zealand, CDC is proud to serve as the foundation for national security, economic resilience and social wellbeing.
This year’s update reflects our progress, intent and leadership. We’ve set ambitious targets, delivered tangible outcomes and strengthened transparency across our operations. From our industry-leading renewable energy achievements to our worldclass water efficiency and commitment to zero waste, CDC continues to look beyond compliance to set new benchmarks for sustainable infrastructure.

Our sustainability strategy is guided by the issues that matter most to our customers, partners, regulators and the wider community. We listen closely to our stakeholders, ensuring our efforts are meaningful and relevant to those who rely on us.
CDC's approach is to sustainability is built on three core pillars. These pillars guide how we design, build, operate and respond to growing demand by developing resilient infrastructure, empowering our teams to lead with purpose and meeting customer needs.
Stable planet: Reducing our environmental impacts and improving sustainability practices for operational carbon and energy use, water, and waste management.
Thriving people: Creating a safe place for our people to thrive and create positive benefits in the community.
Trusted company: Providing secure and trusted operations with a focus on governance, data sovereignty, resilience and availability.
Renewable energy: In FY25, 95.8% of the electricity used in CDC data centres was matched with renewable energy certificates, offered to all customers through our Renewable Energy Program.
Water efficiency: CDC’s proprietary LiquidCore™ advanced liquid cooling system eliminates ongoing water draw, conserving billions of litres annually and achieving a world-class Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE) of 0.01.
Energy performance: Our Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) stands at 1.38, setting industry-leading standards for energy efficiency.
Community impact: CDC supported 18 community-focused organisations in FY25, reflecting our commitment to making a meaningful difference where we operate.
Safety and wellbeing: Our serious claims rate is 0.8 per million hours worked, significantly lower than the industry benchmark, and 90% of our data centre operations team has completed training through the CDC Academy.
Trust and security: All Australian data centres are Certified Strategic Facilities under the Australian Government Hosting Certification Framework, and our Net Promoter Score (NPS) reached 94+, demonstrating strong customer advocacy.
