CDC accelerates expansion to meet the increasing demand of artificial intelligence

CDC, the largest provider of data centre services to the Australian federal government, is accelerating its development plans to meet surging demand for artificial intelligence (AI) services across Australia and New Zealand. The company currently operates 268MW of data centre capacity, with an additional 265MW under construction and a further 517MW of future build capacity planned through to 2028. This expansion is driven by increased customer interest in AI infrastructure, with CDC signing contracts for over 200MW of capacity in the last 18 months.

Backed by key shareholders, including Infratil, Australia's Future Fund, and the Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation, CDC is well-positioned to lead in the AI and data centre sectors. Infratil, which holds a 48.2% stake in CDC, announced a capital raising of NZ$1.15 billion to fund the company’s growth and expand its presence across Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland.
