CDC Data Centres (CDC), Australia’s leading developer, owner and operator of sovereign, secure and sustainable data centre infrastructure, today announces its plans for a landmark development and expansion in Western Australia.

For several years, CDC has been working closely with our customers and partners on developing an ambitious vision for Western Australia and its role in Australia’s digital future. Following three years of land ownership and development activity, CDC is now preparing to bring significant leading-edge AI and advanced technology data centre capacity to enable Western Australia to play a pivotal role in the future of AI, innovation and security in Australia and the region.

The proposed campus will be the largest AI and advanced technology data centre in Western Australia, delivering up to 200 megawatts of high-density capacity when complete.

CDC’s planned development is expected to create thousands of new jobs during construction and operations and support the growing demand for sovereign, AI-ready infrastructure across government, research, defence, technology and critical infrastructure sectors in Western Australia.

The planned development will feature CDC’s state-of-the-art design, including advanced liquid cooling technologies, supporting high-density compute and AI capabilities and CDC’s closed loop system that ensures zero water consumption for primary cooling. It also maintains the same strong emphasis on sustainability, reflecting CDC’s commitment to leading the sector in accordance with CDC’s net zero goals.

Strategically positioned to support WA’s critical infrastructure and digital economy, the development is expected to attract significant additional investment into the state by bringing new customers to this region.

CDC CEO and Founder, Greg Boorer, said the planned expansion into WA was a natural next step for the company:

“CDC is proud to be expanding in Western Australia and bringing our sovereign, secure and sustainable infrastructure to the west. Our goal is to provide the digital backbone for WA’s AI and advanced technology future, supporting everything from AI, quantum and supercomputing, to defence and critical infrastructure customers.

“Our vision for this project is to deliver more than just a data centre. We are envisioning a comprehensive technology campus, including state-of-the-art facilities, with the highest power densities for AI workloads at scale, secure office space, and a range of amenities designed to meet the diverse needs of our customers. This reflects CDC’s integrated approach, which ensures that we can offer a holistic environment that fosters innovation and collaboration with some of our most critical customers.”

Mr. Boorer said that the planned expansion into WA was an example of CDC’s commitment to putting customers at the centre of everything we do.

“There is demand to have highly resilient, secure, and redundant AI infrastructure in the West. We are excited to play a leading role in meeting AI and advanced technology demand for the nation and help ensure WA’s strong natural advantages – including the abundance of renewable energy - deliver benefits to the state and the nation.

“We’re looking forward to delivering on our goals of bringing new customers and investment into WA to contribute to its potential of driving AI and advanced technology innovation for the region.”

Upon delivery the WA campus will expand CDC’s cutting-edge footprint across Australia and New Zealand. CDC’s total data centre pipeline is projected to exceed 2.6GW in the period ahead.
